Our client in Richmond, VA has an immediate opening for a Store Director on a direct hire basis.

Store Director Role:
The Store Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of store operations in accordance with the company's goals, objectives, and standards. This role requires a leader with a servant's heart and a keen eye for detail. The Store Director will provide guidance to department managers, promote a collaborative and supportive work environment, manage budgets, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and maintain a strong focus on customer service and merchandising standards.
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, including business licenses, permits, health regulations, and labor laws, in partnership with the Leadership Team.
Manage store labor scheduling to align with labor cost goals and exceptional customer service.
Develop and enhance operational systems in collaboration with the Leadership Team.
Maintain a consistent management presence during all store operating hours.
Conduct ongoing training alongside staff during peak hours.
Safeguard the security of the building, equipment, and inventory.
Conduct regular store and department inventories.
Establish and implement store security and safety training programs for staff.
Facilitate weekly meetings of the Store Management Team, including department managers.
Uphold a clean, attractive, and customer-friendly store environment with well-merchandised departments.
Foster strong working relationships with all staff members.
Stay informed and actively contribute to achieving department goals.
Conduct daily store audits, addressing issues, maintaining merchandising standards, and ensuring readiness for opening and peak hours.
Promote excellent customer service by ensuring product availability, quality, and presentation, while keeping employees focused on customers.
Foster positive morale by facilitating clear and kind communication.
Possess a working knowledge of department manager duties and all department functions.
Cultivate an effective and collaborative team that aligns with company objectives.
Ensure all employees are trained and empowered to excel in their roles, recognizing and encouraging initiative.
Create an environment of positive and respectful interactions among all team members.
Support direct communication, model good listening skills, and facilitate cooperation among staff.
Lead the store and company towards continuous growth.
Continually evaluate systems for improvement and efficiency.
Enforce company policies and work with the Leadership Team to enhance them.
Serve as an example of commitment, work ethic, attitude, flexibility, and diversity.
Utilize and communicate financial information, supporting staff in understanding finances and achieving budget goals.
Collaborate with other company locations and operations to optimize efficiency.
Participate in the development of annual operating, capital, and cash budgets for the store in collaboration with the management team.
Monitor budget deviations, take corrective action, and report on actions taken.
Review department financial performance reports, share concerns with the Leadership Team, managers, buyers, and plan corrective action as needed.
Generate and review all department reports.
Submit non-resale expenditures to accounting within budget parameters.
Oversee the hiring and evaluation of Assistant Store Director, Shift Leaders, and Department Managers, with final interviews conducted by the owner and designee for approval.
Conduct final interviews for all other store positions.
Ensure all store employees receive orientations, safety training, and on-the-job training.
Administer timely performance evaluations for store employees.
Recommend and implement pay increases for store employees following approval through the administrative office.
Take disciplinary action as needed in accordance with established handbook policies.
Schedule labor hours within payroll allocation, ensuring appropriate staffing for key periods.

Store Director Background Profile:
Bachelor’s Degree and five or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
Strong communication skills, including effective listening and clear instructions.
Demonstrated leadership skills, including initiative, delegation, motivation, and problem-solving.
Previous supervisory experience, encompassing hiring, training, evaluating, and termination.
Ability to motivate and unite others as a positive team.
Proficiency in computer skills, including Excel and Word.
Capability to handle multiple demands calmly and effectively.
Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments.
Competence in reading financial statements.
Knowledge of products and trends in the natural food industry.

Mike has a passion for community service, having served as a board member for the Bear Creek Specialty Utility District (formerly Lavon Water Supply Corporation) from 2007-2013; Community Independent School District board trustee from 2013-2017; and currently serves as Lavon City Councilman, Place 2 since 2017.
