Staff Accountant Role:
Record monthly journal entries using reports from third-party administrators, and internal resources & systems.
Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations and analysis to research variances for resolution.
Record STAT and GAAP entries & accruals for quarterly and annual closes as needed. STAT can be trained if needed.Â
Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual statutory statements (Blue Books), including schedules and exhibits in accordance with statutory accounting principles (SAP). This can be trained.Â
Assist in the preparation of GAAP and STAT Audits.
Prepare and/or assist in the creation of State Pages, State Premium Tax Returns, and other state regulatory filings (Federal/State Income Tax Withheld, Unclaimed Property Filings, etc.).
Staff Accountant Background Profile
Bachelor’s degree in AccountingÂ
3 years of insurance accounting experience is highly preferred, excluding insurance agency or brokerage. Otherwise open to Real Estate, Banking, or Investment accountants.
Experience preparing or reviewing Statutory Schedules & Exhibits is preferred but not required.
Good organizational and referencing skills related to work papers, financial statements, and schedules prepared
Excel skills such as v-lookups and pivot tables, programming, and macros are a plus
Ability to work extra hours when prime season projects are due
