SolidWorks Draftsman Role:
The SolidWorks Draftsman (Steel / Fabrication) will be responsible for producing detailed drawings for both customer submittals and production/fabrication. This SolidWorks Designer role is heavily focused on execution, speed, and accuracy, with a mix of drafting and light design involvement.
Create customer submittal drawings and shop/fabrication drawings (roughly 50/50 split)
Develop detailed SolidWorks models and drawings for steel and aluminum products
Interpret contract drawings and translate them into production-ready designs
Contribute to design improvements (not starting from scratch but modifying and enhancing existing designs
Collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to ensure accuracy and manufacturability
Maintain high output in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Support production by ensuring drawings are accurate and ready for fabrication
SolidWorks Draftsman Background Profile:
3–5+ years of drafting/design experience flexible based on skill level
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks required
Experience with shop drawings and fabrication/production drawings
Ability to read and interpret contract/engineering drawings
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented with ability to maintain high accuracy 95%+ expectation
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
