Job Description

Our client, located south of Tampa, Florida, is looking for a Senior Accountant to add to their team. This is a direct-hire, hybrid opportunity.

Senior Accountant Role:
Ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, particularly ASC 842 (Leases), by staying updated on changes and executing new leases and amendments.
Supporting the timely completion of month-end close processes and reconciliations to uphold the integrity of financial statements.
Handling the accounting for and overseeing the timely and accurate filing of sales & use and property taxes.
Keeping abreast of changes in sales tax and property tax legislation and implementing necessary adjustments.
Facilitating sales and property tax audits efficiently.
Collaborating effectively with third-party service providers such as consultants and auditors.
Working collaboratively with other corporate functions such as Development, Operations, and Finance.
Identifying and implementing solutions to drive operational efficiencies.
Leading and supporting other accounting-related projects and functions

Senior Accountant Background Profile:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and CPA license is required.
2+ years of public accounting experience or 3+ years public/industry combo
Public Accounting experience is strongly preferred
Excellent understanding of GAAP and relevant financial accounting regulations, particularly lease accounting (Leases, ASC 842).
Knowledge/exposure to sales and use tax, property tax, and income tax.
Experience within retail, restaurant, or similar industry with multiple locations in various tax jurisdictions.
Familiarity with SEC rules is desirable.
Experience working with external auditors.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential; previous experience with Great Plains is a plus.
