Sales and Use Tax Accountant
Our client located in Dallas, TX is in need of a Sales and Use Tax Accountant . This is a direct hire opportunity. Â

Sales and Use Tax Accountant Role:
Sales and Use Tax Accountant will oversee Accounts Payable cycle, including invoice receipt, approval, and capture in AP software.
Manage sales tax compliance and reporting activities.
Keep organized records of sales transactions and exemption certificates.Â
Conduct payment runs for checks/eft, distribute & mail checks, and report issued and void items to the bank for positive pay validation.
Handle 1099-MISC, 1099-R & 1099-NEC reporting and mailing to IRS, payees, and/or state entities.
Sales and Use Tax Accountant will prepare and review State Premium tax returns, quarterly estimate payments, and other state regulatory filings.
Manage Federal/State Income Tax Withholding payments and returns.
Maintain and supervise Unclaimed Property Inventory, perform required due diligence, and complete annual filings with states.
Sales and Use Tax Accountant will record statutory entries and accruals for quarterly and annual close as necessary.
Prepare and review monthly general ledger account reconciliations and analysis to research variances for resolution.
Address inquiries from internal and external auditors.
Assist in preparation of GAAP and STAT Audits.
Assist in the creation of State Pages and Sch Ts.
Sales and Use Tax Accountant will contribute to preparation of quarterly and annual statutory statements (Blue Books), including schedules and exhibits in accordance with statutory accounting principles (SAP).
Propose ideas to enhance internal procedures and efficiencies.
Fulfill other departmental and/or company-related assignments as needed.
Sales and Use Tax Accountant Background Profile:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience is highly preferred
Certifications such as CMI are great
Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of Sales and Use Tax is required
Multistate tax experience is required
Strong organizational and referencing skills regarding workpapers, financial statements, and schedules.
Keen attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and manage competing deadlines.
Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, etc.).
