Our client in Nashville, TN has an immediate opening for a Produce Team Leader on a direct hire basis.

Produce Team Leader Role:

As a Produce Department Head, you will play a pivotal role in our mission to deliver top-quality produce while ensuring outstanding customer service.
Champion superior customer service by greeting, assisting, and addressing customer needs, setting the bar as a role model for your team.
Provide prompt and friendly responses to customer inquiries about produce products and special orders.
Facilitate and oversee the special orders system to ensure customers receive their orders efficiently.
Share relevant literature with your team to keep them informed about new produce products and procedures.
Act on customer feedback, suggestions, comments, and complaints promptly and professionally.
Collaborate with our Produce Buyer to secure favorable prices, terms, and the highest quality of products from suppliers.
Implement precise inventory control based on product selection guidelines and marketing plans.
Ensure the timely availability of promoted products.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date prices in our POS system and on shelf tags.
Coordinate the receiving of orders and manage returns efficiently.
Collaborate with Receivers to handle returns and obtain credits from suppliers.
Oversee inventory counts for the produce department.
Engage in meetings with other department managers to plan promotions and storewide merchandising strategies.
Craft appealing produce displays that evoke a sense of abundance and quality, while adhering to storage standards.
Prepare produce items, including trimming, washing, and bundling as needed.
Ensure that displays are consistently replenished, rotated, and inspected throughout the day.
Implement pricing strategies that align with margin and sales objectives, maintaining a competitive image.
Offer customers tastes, samples, purchasing suggestions, and preparation tips daily.
Collaborate with our Graphic Artist to create and maintain accurate department signs.
Coordinate the handling of returned items to suppliers and manage unsellable items responsibly while maintaining precise shrinkage records.
Uphold department cleanliness and organization to meet health department and ADA standards.
Promptly remove trash and conduct regular retail and backroom area floor maintenance.
Collaborate on inventory counts and ensure the safe operation and maintenance of department equipment.
Contribute to the hiring process, including on-the-job training and conducting performance evaluations.
Schedule department staff hours within budget constraints and oversee timecard management.
Organize and lead department meetings.

Produce Team Leader Background Profile:

Minimum of one year of retail produce experience.
High school diploma or GED.
Food Safety Management certification.
Strong knowledge of organic and commercial growing practices and organic certification regulations.
Familiarity with current trends in the natural foods industry.
Supervisory experience, including hiring, training, evaluation, and direction.
Proficiency in reading financial statements and a firm grasp of margin and pricing.
Excellent organization, commitment to follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple demands.
Exceptional communication skills, including clear direction and active listening.
Proven experience in serving the public and projecting a friendly, outgoing personality.
Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment.
Ability to lift 40+ pounds and stand for extended periods.
Willingness to work in cold and wet conditions.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Willingness and capacity to adapt and grow with changing job requirements.
Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications, as well as familiarity with POS systems and financial reports.
