Our client in Eastsound, WA has an immediate opening for a Produce Manager on a direct hire basis.

Produce Manager Role:
The Produce Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the freshness and fullness of our produce selection. This position involves close collaboration with produce personnel to manage daily operations and enhance customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess robust knowledge of produce products, financial acumen in the retail grocery industry, and a focus on maintaining optimal stock levels.
Maintain fresh and full produce items through effective ordering and stock management.
Implement product merchandising strategies.
Utilize daily sales data to minimize shrinkage by managing production output effectively.
Make informed purchasing decisions based on sales, profit, and market trends.
Interview, hire, train, and develop department employees.
Conduct regular employee performance evaluations.
Address customer requests and concerns professionally.
Ensure compliance with state, local, and company health and safety policies.
Collaborate with leadership to execute company directives and promotional campaigns effectively.
Lead and coordinate activities within the Produce Department.
Plan and direct departmental work assignments.
Implement strategies aligned with company goals and growth objectives.
Establish and enforce operational policies consistent with organizational objectives.
Regularly evaluate departmental operations and report results to the main office.
Develop and maintain effective communication channels within the department.
Produce Manager Background Profile:
High school Diploma or GED.
Three or more years of Retail Produce Management experience required.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Proven ability to train and develop employees effectively.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Strong written and oral communication abilities.
Proficiency in multitasking within a fast-paced environment.
In-depth knowledge of government regulations and strong analytical skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software.
Proficiency in Retail Math.

With more than 35+ years in the grocery retail industry, Mike started as a part-time courtesy clerk. The later certification was in collaboration with the Western Association of Food Chains. And, he has received numerous awards and accolades for customer service and leadership.
Mike has a passion for community service, having served as a board member for the Bear Creek Specialty Utility District (formerly Lavon Water Supply Corporation) from 2007-2013; Community Independent School District board trustee from 2013-2017; and currently serves as Lavon City Councilman, Place 2 since 2017.
