Payroll Specialist Role:
In this role, you will be responsible for the payroll functions of the company, including ensuring payroll is processed on time and accurately and in full government compliance, and be responsible for hiring and training new staff in the payroll department.
Enter and manage the semi monthly payroll, tax and related reporting for all employees, along with overseeing the daily workflow of the department, all while ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local payroll laws and regulations.
Responsible for preparing accurate reports and records of all payroll transactions and maintain employee time records.
Maintain employee records including tax information, direct deposit details, and benefits enrollment.
Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
You will be responsible for handling full cycle payroll including entering information into the payroll system which could include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.
Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
Must be timely in the processing of payroll along with accuracy when updating information in the system including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
Work with auditors by providing accurate records and documentation.
Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure accurate and consistent data transfer between systems.
Will be a part of recommending and identifying suggested updates to the payroll processing system and processes.
Assist with the implementation and maintenance of payroll software systems.
Provide excellent customer service to employees as you answer payroll-related questions and inquiries.
Payroll Specialist Background Profile:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, Business or Accounting is preferred
Any certifications in Human Resources or Payroll are preferred, but not required
3+ years of experience in full cycle payroll
Multi-state payroll experience is preferred
Ability to work in the office Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM
Experience with payroll software is required, preferably Paychex
Strong full cycle payroll experience including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
Strong collaboration skills and able to collaborate with CFO, Finance department, HR Director and HR Department
Must be able to ensure year-end legal requirements are met
Must be willing to learn local policies
Any experience working with an international company is a plus
Supervisory and/or management skills required because the team will be growing
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills
Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
MS Office Suite – specifically Excel for reporting and analysis
Desire and willingness to learn and grow
Ability to maintain confidentiality
