Medical Front Desk Receptionist Role:
The Medical Front Desk Receptionist will provide a professional and positive experience while assisting patients with the check in and check out procedures – verifying current information and obtaining updated information and paperwork when necessary.
You will greet patients and visitors in a warm, friendly, and helpful manner.
Maintains the reception area and work area in a neat and orderly manner.
Scan patient’s insurance cards and documentation into the EMR system.
Responsible for scheduling appointments and chart management as well as scheduling any follow up appointments as necessary.
Responsible for providing information to patients so that they may fully utilize and benefit from the services that the clinic provides.
Collects the required payment, issues an appropriate receipt, and applies copay or co-insurance payments received to the patient’s account. 
Must know and understand deductibles, copays, etc.
Balances the charges and fees incurred in the office and prepares the deposit daily. 
Helps in answering the back line, screens calls, takes messages, and effectively shares information with patients, their families, and referring physician’s offices. 
Interacts with clinical staff in order to coordinate patient care and work-flow of the clinic. 
Prints and distributes faxes and mail. 
Maintains strict confidentiality. 
Attends scheduled staff meetings.


Medical Front Desk Receptionist Background Profile:
High School diploma or equivalent 
1+ years’ experience working in a Medical Receptionist position
Comfortable with and computer literate
10-Key skills and strong typing skills
Experience with EMR software preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology and coding basics, orthopedic experience preferred
Excellent customer service skills both over the phone and in person
Ability to analyze various medical situations for scheduling purposes
Basic math skills – ability to handle cash and count money accurately
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
Ability to handle stressful situations and complaints maturely while keeping a positive attitude
Excellent phone voice and communication skills
Professional and polished demeanor and appearance
Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
