Certified Mechanical Engineer II Role:
Certified Mechanical Engineer II reports to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for providing technical leadership to the engineering team.
Responsible for championing the Certification & Standards Program by providing general and mechanical engineering subject matter expertise, requirements management, technical compliance assessments, and project planning with a focus on work breakdown structures and resource estimation. Serve as the subject matter expert for advancing, sustaining, and defending certification and standard compliance projects and initiatives across the product portfolio.
Support engineering projects and initiatives, assist in specification development and provide leadership and oversight support to the certification program.
Design, develop, and execute test and evaluation protocols for mechanical, electrical, structural, and automotive equipment, components, assemblies, or systems.
Apply mathematical and engineering principles and methods.
Perform extensive testing and evaluation of designs to ensure reliability, performance, and safety standards.
Advise on system integration issues across vehicle platforms and products.
Advise disposition of new and non-conforming equipment items.
Support designated projects and improvement initiatives.
Certified Mechanical Engineer II Background Profile:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree
5+ years of experience showing progressing increases in technical responsibility
2-4 years related experience
Electrical Vehicle design and/or assembly certifications
AutoCAD and Solidworks or Inventor skills
Conceptual knowledge of custom vehicle production experience
Ability to collaborate with other engineering disciplines – mechanical, structural, automotive, and certification
Ability to work in a process driven environment
Experience managing single and multi-phase projects
