Senior Events Technical Manager

This position presents a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Events Technical Manager seeking a full-time, permanent role with a renowned faith-based organization located in Washington, D.C. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the production and event operations, ensuring exceptional experiences for guests, donors, and community members.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise production and event operations for a religious organization, guaranteeing top-tier experiences for attendees.
  • Efficiently schedule and coordinate production staff year-round to ensure adequate coverage for each event.
  • Manage event budgets, negotiate vendor contracts, and ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Develop and implement workflow policies to enhance efficiency while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Provide hands-on technical support as required, including roles such as Audio Engineer, Lighting Technician, Projectionist, Video Production Technician, Stage Manager, and live streaming support.
  • Collaborate closely with Event Coordinators and internal stakeholders, including facilities and security teams.
  • Determine technical event requirements in advance and advise on the implementation of approved designs.
  • Oversee technical rehearsals, event operations, load-ins, and load-outs to ensure smooth execution.
  • Monitor event spaces daily to uphold safety standards.
  • Suggest operational efficiencies, maintenance requirements, and facility enhancements.
  • Maintain a professional and welcoming demeanor when engaging with VIPs, donors, talent, or guests.

Qualifications:

  • Preferably hold a B.A. or B.F.A. in Theater Studies, Technical Production, or related field experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in theater or live event technical production.
  • Proven supervisory experience managing technical staff and team performance.
  • Hands-on experience handling multiple events of varying sizes, scopes, and technical complexities.
  • Proficiency in audio, lighting, video, projections, stage, and live/streaming events.
  • Knowledge of standard industry lighting, show control, audio mixing/amplification, video playback/distribution, and projection systems.
  • Understanding of IT/networking principles and related hardware.
  • Capable of managing complex contracts associated with live events.
  • Familiarity with back-of-house facility maintenance and safety procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and remain composed under pressure while efficiently troubleshooting technical or operational challenges.
  • Skilled in making informed, diplomatic decisions concerning event feasibility and budget.
  • Alignment with the mission and values of a faith-based organization is crucial.
