Human Resources Manager Role:
Supports proactive programs, procedures, and plans for the company to promote and support business growth, a high-performance culture, a positive employer reputation, and employee engagement. Helps in planning and implementing human resource management operations. Is a cooperative partner for general human resources with designated business areas in the areas of employee relations, pay, benefits, timekeeping, hiring, training, and leave of absence.
Lowers risk and guarantees adherence to all federal, state, and local employment standards, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC).
Handles unemployment claims and represents the business in hearings on appeals.
Collaborates with the Legal Department in response to requests from agencies and issues involving employment litigation.
Works with management to update staff handbooks and annual policies.
Serve as the first point of contact for management and staff about HR-related issues, responding to questions.
Advises and coaches leaders on performance reviews, performance management, leadership development, talent management, compensation, employee relations, rewards, and recognition.
Reviews attendance issues, and other disciplinary action related to violation of policy or performance issues; works with leaders to ensure documents are correct.
Reviews and approves terminations.
Research manages and resolves Employee Relations issues; conduct effective and objective investigations.
Administers and monitors exit interviews and assists in the preparation of separation notice paperwork.
Performs various recruiting administrative tasks such as creating offer letters, adjudicating backgrounds, processing new hire paperwork, and I-9 forms.
Collaborates closely with the Benefits division to ensure that team members are effectively informed about the benefits available to them, including new hire open enrollment, yearly benefit open enrollment, and daily requests for general benefit questions.
Conducts numerous pieces of training on topics such as leave of absence, remuneration, performance management, employment law, and company practices.
Supports leadership in making sure that performance evaluations are carried out on a regular basis, and periodically audits remuneration to make sure it is in line with performance, pay grade, and length of service with the company.
Contributes significantly to changing management procedures and organizational culture change initiatives.
Offers techniques to raise spirit, output, and retention.
Acts as an HR ambassador by leading numerous HR initiatives that promote a dynamic, productive workplace.
Follows instructions from leadership and provides defined metrics accurately.
In carrying out assigned tasks, exhibits professionalism and great customer service.
Creates connections with people across the company to maintain credibility, trust, and confidence.
Upholds and protects the privacy of all human resources data.
Keeps current with changes in employment law.
Able to visit corporate sites as required.
Carries out further related tasks as required.
Human Resources Manager Background Profile:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Psychology, Accounting, or another related field.
PHR or SPHR – preferred.
SHRM member – required.
7+ years of Human Resources Business Partner or Generalist experience preferably within a services or retail environment.
Customer-focused orientation with strong communication skills and the ability to function as an effective and respected partner to internal clients.
Ability to understand and interpret the labor market and trends over time.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the proven ability to drive communication across a broader group.
Excellent time management skills and ability to make independent judgments.
Proven ability to be analytical and handle confidential and sensitive data effectively.
Attention to detail and well-organized; project management skills a plus.
Ability to juggle multiple tasks while still delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment, working well under pressure.
Strong MS Office skills.
Valid driver’s license and clean MVR.
Must maintain auto insurance at all times which is equal to or in excess of the state minimum.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for the position
