Benefits Specialist Role:
As the Benefits Specialist, you will lead the administration, compliance, and strategic support of employee benefit programs. The Benefits Specialist will serve as the subject matter expert for benefits operations, partnering closely with HR Shared Services and leadership.
Benefits Administration & Employee Support
Administer medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary benefit programs
Manage enrollments, status changes, and claims resolution
Serve as primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries
Maintain updated and accessible benefit communications across internal platforms
Retirement & 401k Oversight
Oversee 401k enrollments, loans, withdrawals, and reporting
Coordinate with plan providers to ensure compliance and operational accuracy
Support Retirement Committee documentation and reporting
Leave Program Management
Administer FMLA, ADA, state-specific leave, and disability programs
Partner with third-party administrators and managers on tracking and documentation
Ensure regulatory compliance across multiple states
Workers’ Compensation Reporting
Manage workplace injury claims and reporting
Coordinate return-to-work programs with internal safety partners
Open Enrollment & Vendor Management
Lead annual open enrollment strategy and execution
Partner with executive leadership on benefits presentations and approvals
Collaborate with brokers to deliver employee education and training
Manage vendor relationships, renewal analysis, and utilization reporting
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, and applicable regulations
Conduct audits and reconcile benefits data
Prepare internal and regulatory reporting
Benefits Specialist Background Profile:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
3–5 years of U.S.-based benefits administration experience
Hands-on experience with 401k, leave management, and compliance regulations
Proficiency with HRIS and benefits platforms (ADP WFN preferred)
CEBS or related certification preferred
Experience supporting multi-state or distributed workforces
Strong knowledge of employment laws and benefits regulations
Advanced organizational, analytical, and communication skills
High attention to detail with ability to maintain confidentiality
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Advanced Excel skills
