Our client in Honolulu, HI has an immediate opening for a Head of Sales and Merchandising on a direct hire basis.

Head of Sales and Merchandising:
The Head of Sales and Merchandising will oversee all sales and merchandising operations. This leadership role demands a comprehensive understanding of the retail grocery industry, market trends, consumer behaviors, and technological advancements. The successful candidate will collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement strategies aligned with the company's mission and vision, ensuring financial goals are met and company initiatives are executed effectively.
Collaborate with leadership to create and execute department-specific sales and merchandising plans to drive sales and achieve financial targets.
Develop and implement merchandising plans that align with customer needs and company vision.
Ensure the product assortment reflects evolving customer preferences and trends, maintaining and updating sets accordingly.
Partner with leadership to execute and adjust the company's pricing strategy as needed.
Ensure that your team executes plans effectively to meet financial objectives.
Work with the finance department to develop annual budgets and identify initiatives to bridge any gaps in achieving financial goals.
Monitor inventory levels and implement strategies to enhance cash flow, minimize waste, and maximize product freshness.
Utilize technology and data analytics to improve processes and performance, ensuring the team effectively uses available tools.
Structure the organization to meet company needs, develop team capacity and skills, monitor performance, and provide daily oversight.
Ensure the team monitors competition, stays updated on customer trends, and adapts to changing customer needs.
Collaborate with operations, marketing, food development, IT, and other support functions to execute company priorities.
Exemplify the company's mission, vision, values, guiding principles, and house rules.

Head of Sales and Merchandising Background Profile:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, Marketing, or related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in retail.
Minimum of 5 years in a progressively responsible sales and merchandising leadership position, preferably in the grocery industry.
Proven experience in leading change management, especially with new systems implementations.
Ability to achieve results through others, manage multiple projects, develop and execute plans, and build relationships.
Strong analytical, negotiating, and problem-solving skills.
Experience managing teams of 10 or more, including hiring, development, performance improvement, and separations.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Office, and PowerPoint.
This role involves travel to store locations and neighboring islands for initiative implementation, maintenance, and training. Mainland and international travel may be required for industry shows and research.
Requires a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, and the ability to spend periods off-island to execute company initiatives and meet store needs.
Work is conducted in an office environment with occasional work in non-standard workplaces, including stores.
Ability to analyze reports, interpret findings, and solve problems based on data.
Must adapt to changes, stay updated with industry trends, and learn new tasks.
Requires quick decision-making with sometimes minimal information.
