Our client in Cincinnati, OH is currently seeking a dedicated Assistant Produce Manager to join their team on a direct hire basis.

Position Overview:
The Assistant Produce Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily operations in the produce department, ensuring product freshness, quality, and customer satisfaction. This role also offers the opportunity to transition into a Produce Buyer position. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in retail produce management, comprehensive knowledge of produce products, expertise in inventory management, vendor relations, negotiation skills, and financial acumen in the grocery industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain optimal inventory by effectively managing orders and stock levels
- Implement merchandising strategies to enhance product visibility and increase sales
- Utilize sales data to minimize shrinkage and manage production output efficiently
- Make informed purchasing decisions based on market trends and profitability
- Coordinate timely delivery of produce through efficient freight management
- Train and develop department employees, conduct performance evaluations, and provide feedback
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Collaborate with leadership on company directives and promotional activities
- Utilize software tools such as Google Docs, PowerBi, and BRData for documentation, data analysis, and inventory management
Background Profile:
- Minimum of five years of experience in retail produce management
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Demonstrated ability to train and develop employees effectively
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency in multitasking in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of government regulations and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Retail Math
- Ability to lift weights of up to 50 pounds consistently
- Capable of working in varied environmental conditions
- Must be fluent in English; bilingualism is a plus
- Able to operate forklifts with proper training

Mike has a passion for community service, having served as a board member for the Bear Creek Specialty Utility District (formerly Lavon Water Supply Corporation) from 2007-2013; Community Independent School District board trustee from 2013-2017; and currently serves as Lavon City Councilman, Place 2 since 2017.
