General Manager Role:
The General Manager will run the business and be responsible for the Profit and Loss performance, ensuring the cohesive interaction of all local departments to maximize safety, quality, production, and profitability and to achieve company goals.
Leadership 
Foster positive and progressive relationships with all employees through effective communication and follow-up 
Be the site leader for all company initiatives; local community initiatives and the key point of contact for local governmental agencies. 
Guide and execute the local tactics aligning with the execution of the broader company  strategies. 
Sales and Marketing 
Key point of contact for local customers developing goodwill through positive customer interactions 
Executes pricing strategies created in partnership with the VP Commercial. 
Key voice in determining profitable customer pursuits and approach. 
Ensures follow up on lead generation activities. 
Be the customer expert ensuring a positive overall customer experience from dealings with the company 
Manage the local house accounts 
Operations 
Responsible for the management of the staff by providing leadership in achieving production targets while maintaining safe operations and standards. 
Foster a “hands-on” management approach by overseeing regular staff meetings and communications to ensure all staff understand targets and measures 
Recommend, plan and complete continuous improvement plans for the company consistent with LEAN manufacturing principles 
Prepare, submit and track manufacturing and capital budgets. 
Ensure the safety of all employees and proactively work with staff to identify and solve issues. 
Participate as the Management Representative on the Health and Safety committee. Review all incident reports and direct corrective action. 
Ensure regular maintenance and housekeeping of facilities and equipment is adhered to. 
Responsible for an internal controls system for all assets, including physical, human resources and information 
Coordinate proper company resources to ensure efficient and stable sales results 
Modify and refine strategic account plan initiatives/opportunities with the current regulatory, legislative and business environment 
Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of operational controls and strategies 
Finance 
Review monthly and annual financial statements with the local accounting department 
Reduce exposure (inventory/WIP; A/R; contractual risk) with current and future customers 
Improve profitability YOY understanding the dynamics of the Break Even curve  
Be aware of trends in sales, margins, overhead costs, labor costs, cash flow and determine corrective actions where necessary 
Be the steward of a profitable operation 


General Manager Background Profile:
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, preferably in Business Management, Engineering or related discipline 
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Fabrication with at least 5 years in a management role with good business acumen 
Knowledge of capital budgets and staff planning/forecasting 
Knowledge of Fabrication procedures such as estimating, project management, inventory management, welding fabrication practices, quality control / quality assurance; Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings and sketches. 
Demonstrated ability to drive outstanding safety culture and commitment to zero incidence 
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and demonstrated ability to drive production efficiencies 
Exceptional leadership skills with a strong ability to motivate and communicate with all staff 
Team oriented with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate with all levels of the organization 
Strong problem solving abilities with demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills 
Good organizational skills with the ability to respond quickly to changing priorities. 
Strong customer-focused orientation and ability to build and foster effective customer relationships 
Knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation, guidelines & standards pertaining to the Fabrication Industry. 
Knowledge of Contract Law including Change Management best practices 
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong computer skills, reporting skills, and presentation skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
