Our busy and growing client in Azle, TX is looking for a Division Controller / Corporate Controller on a direct hire basis.
Private equity firm specializing in the metal fabrication industry
Division Controller / Corporate Controller Role:
The Division Controller would work initially for one of the companies in this company’ s portfolio, then after approximately 6-9 months’ this position would be ideally elevated into a Corporate Controller role, based on successfully demonstrating technical accounting knowledge and abilities in the Division Controller position. The Corporate Controller will work with each of the controllers in the US in the portfolio and provide oversight and consulting as well as perform hands on work when needed.
In the Division Controller position, you will be responsible for the following:
Accountable for the timely reporting of all financial information to the divisional management and as well as the corporate office; including monthly statements, year-end closing documentation, financial forecasts and various reports. Month-end close is 10 calendar days.
Responsible for the month end and year-end close process, including all financial statements and supporting schedules.
Accounts receivable invoicing, cash application and collections.
Learn and become proficient in the company’ s proprietary ERP
Assist in ensuring data and reports related to the sale of products are accurate and timely in relation to the formulation of quotation rates.
Prepare daily bank deposits and reconciliation of AP checks on a daily basis.
Ensure timely payment of sales tax and payroll remittances.
Submit hourly payroll and any payroll related remittances on a weekly basis.
Co-ordinate all internal and external audits or reviews.
As the position transitions into the Corporate Controller role, you would be responsible for guiding and training others.
Being a good coach and communicator for ensuring consistent understanding of accounting principles across the businesses.
Ability to manage dotted line reporting and ensure financial reporting and other accounting activities are being performed correctly.
Working with the leadership team in a strategic capacity.
Supporting and developing company goals.
Looking for efficiencies and continuous improvement.
Investigating ways to reduce costs.
Establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls.
Developing, maintaining and communication of financial metrics.
Develop and manage financial controls, etc.
Potentially participate in management meetings including production and sales & marketing.
Assist sales staff members in understanding customer service issues related to costs and profitability.
Ensure a good understanding of the overall day to day operations of the organization.
Division Controller / Corporate Controller Background Profile:
Bachelor’ s degree in accounting or finance
5-10 years’ work experience in accounting or finance
5 years in a manufacturing environment is preferred
Demonstrated work experience with running financial reports, accounts receivables collections, and payroll
CPA accounting designation is required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent English language skills
Ability to work independently or as a team with a hands-on approach
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Strategic and entrepreneurial thinking ability
As the position transitions into the Corporate Controller position:
Experience performing full financial statements and analysis of variances including Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Accounts Receivable Aging, AP, trial balance, fixed asset depreciation schedule, GL detail, Work in Progress.
Cost accounting is very important in this role.
Past manufacturing experience or experience with correct allocation of overhead is important.
Proper setting of OH rates, over/under absorption and understanding of its impact to accurate estimating in a manufacturing environment.
Work experience and understanding where WIP (Work in Progress) was involved is very helpful.
Prior experience with collecting account receivables and limiting bad debts.
Prior work experience and understanding of payroll for full time and temporary work force, deductions for tax and benefits purposes.
