Director of Merchandising Role:
The Director of Merchandising will oversee category management, retail marketing, strategic pricing, and planograms through leading, building and team management.
Develop and execute strategic merchandising plans to maximize product sales and achieve established goals in alignment with company plans and strategies.
Prioritize categories within product portfolios and develop plans to achieve sales goals.
Review merchandising performance and assess challenges to achieve merchandising sales and P&L objectives.
Research opportunities to expand product offerings by assessing strategic assortment gaps, sourcing new items and new vendors.
Develop and design pricing strategies based on market variances, competitor pricing, and other related factors.
Set up and manage the corporate promotion strategy and promotion bill-backs.
Oversee store planograms.
Director of Merchandising Background Profile:
Experience in merchandising, supplier management, retail planning procurement management, demand forecasting and vendor relations required.
Experience leading, developing, and managing teams.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with competing timelines.
Detail-oriented with experience developing and implementing strategies.
Superior interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
Strong time management and decision-making skills and be able to prioritize and organize projects.

He worked his way up to serve in-store leadership positions with both traditional and specialty food formats. Including Brookshire Grocery Company and Central Market/H-E-B. Beyond store operations, his expertise lies in hiring, training, and developing company leaders.
Throughout his career, Mike has placed an emphasis on professional development and continuing education. He was in the charter class of Brookshire University, graduating as salutatorian. He also has earned certificates of proficiency in management specialized leadership and retail management from Tyler Junior College. The later certification was in collaboration with the Western Association of Food Chains. And, he has received numerous awards and accolades for customer service and leadership.
Mike has a passion for community service, having served as a board member for the Bear Creek Specialty Utility District (formerly Lavon Water Supply Corporation) from 2007-2013; Community Independent School District board trustee from 2013-2017; and currently as Lavon City Councilman, Place 2 since 2017.
