Our client is a growing, operationally complex organization with multiple locations and business entities.
This is a high-visibility leadership opportunity playing a critical role in financial oversight, operational partnership, and long-term growth initiatives.
Director of Accounting Role:
The Director of Accounting will serve as the internal owner of all accounting outcomes while supervising an outsourced accounting partner and a small internal team. This Director of Accounting position is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, process integrity, and timely reporting across a multi-location organization.
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles executed by a third-party provider
Review reconciliations and financial statements for accuracy and completeness
Ensure consolidated reporting complies with US GAAP
Take full accountability for the reliability of financial data
Act as the primary liaison with the external accounting firm
Establish clear service expectations, deliverables, and performance metrics
Evaluate output quality and address discrepancies or process gaps
Strengthen communication, documentation, and workflow clarity
Build and maintain effective internal controls over outsourced activities
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and multi-state tax regulations
Coordinate audits and external reviews
Serve as the primary internal contact for auditors and advisors
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows
Collaborate with Finance and IT on ERP enhancements and automation initiatives
Standardize policies across entities while respecting operational nuances
Support scalability initiatives, acquisitions, and new location openings
Work closely with executive leadership on budgeting and forecasting
Provide financial insight to support business decision-making
Help drive structure and clarity in a fast-paced, data-driven environment
Director of Accounting Background Profile:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance requiredÂ
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior-level leadership
Strong command of US GAAP and financial reporting standards
ERP system experience
Experience in multi-location or multi-entity organizations required
ERP implementation or optimization exposure
Experience supporting organizational growth or acquisitions
Collaborative communication style with executive presence
Familiarity with Sage Intacct
