Controller
Our client located in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking a hands-on Corporate Controller to lead and scale the accounting function. This role will oversee financial reporting, internal controls, and core accounting operations while serving as a key business partner to the CEO and executive leadership team. This is an onsite, direct hire opportunity.

Controller Role:
Own and lead the full accounting function, including monthly close (target ~7 business days), financial reporting, and GAAP compliance
Oversee NetSuite ERP to ensure accuracy, data integrity, and reporting capabilities
Manage core accounting operations: AP, AR, payroll (~60 employees), fixed assets, and general ledger
Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and team deliverables (Accounting Manager + Staff)
Deliver weekly sales reporting, manage cash flow, and support commission calculations
Partner cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and sales on inventory, cost accounting, and business performance
Ensure compliance with ASC 606 (revenue recognition), ASC 842 (leases), and sales tax requirements
Establish and maintain internal controls appropriate for a growing, non-SOX environment
Act as primary point of contact for audits, tax partners, and external advisors
Partner directly with the CEO to translate financials into insights, guide decisions, and present risk-based options
Support budgeting, forecasting, insurance renewals, and broader strategic initiatives
Maintain a hands-on presence across both day-to-day accounting and ad hoc projects
Controller Background Profile:
Experience
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA and/or MBA preferred but not required
8 to 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
Prior Controller experience or strong Accounting Manager ready to step up
Background in manufacturing, inventory, or product-based environments preferred
Strong knowledge of GAAP, including ASC 606 and ASC 842
Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems
Proven ability to operate in a hands-on, fast-paced, and less structured environment
Experience partnering with executive leadership, ideally in an entrepreneurial or founder-led company
Demonstrated ability to balance technical accounting with business decision support
