Controller Role
As the Controller, you will be in charge of leading the accounting department and supervising all financial activities within the company. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Controller will manage accounting and HR operations, oversee financial reporting, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This role presents the opportunity to participate in strategic decision-making and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
- Oversee all facets of accounting and HR, encompassing payroll, benefits, AP/AR, billing, financial statements, cost accounting, budgeting, and tax compliance
- Supervise and guide the accounting/HR team to accomplish department objectives
- Maintain accounting protocols, internal controls, and documentation systems
- Monitor cash flow, account balances, and ensure timely payments
- Prepare financial statements, quarterly/annual reports, and ad-hoc financial analyses
- Provide recommendations to management on financial strategy, capital investments, pricing, contracts, and benchmarks
- Ensure adherence to GAAP, federal, state, and local regulations
- Assist in corporate risk assessment and reinforce internal controls
Controller Background Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience; CPA or CMA preferred but not mandatory
- Solid understanding of GAAP, budgeting, cost accounting, and financial analysis
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; prior experience with system implementations is advantageous
- Demonstrated leadership and managerial experience, with the ability to mentor a team
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
