Director of Finance
Our client based in Denver, CO, is currently seeking a highly experienced Director of Finance for a full-time, permanent position.
About the Role:
The Director of Finance holds a key executive role responsible for overseeing all financial aspects, accounting functions, and financial operations within the organization. Serving as a strategic partner to the CEO and senior leadership, the Director of Finance plays a pivotal role in financial planning, performance evaluation, and strategic decision-making to drive sustainable growth. Key responsibilities include budget management, forecasting, capital oversight, and ensuring regulatory compliance while offering valuable insights to enhance profitability and business expansion.
- Collaborate closely with the CEO and executive team to formulate and execute financial strategies in line with organizational goals.
- Develop comprehensive financial models, forecasts, and key performance indicators to support informed decision-making and business expansion.
- Provide expert advice on capital structure, M&A activities, funding opportunities, and investment strategies.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis across all business units.
- Identify avenues for revenue growth and operational efficiencies to optimize profit margins.
- Conduct performance analysis, variance assessments, and deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Oversee the Controller and manage accounting operations, monthly closures, and audit processes.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial statements in compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry standards.
- Strengthen internal controls to minimize risks and enhance data precision.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity planning, and banking relationships effectively.
- Create financial policies for efficient treasury operations, debt management, and working capital optimization.
- Perform organizational risk evaluations, manage insurance policies, and ensure compliance frameworks are adhered to.
- Work closely with legal and audit teams to maintain sound governance and ethical standards.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team.
- Cultivate a culture of accountability, strategic vision, and continuous improvement within the finance function.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance financial literacy and performance awareness throughout the organization.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
- At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience in finance
- Demonstrated success in a similar role as a Director of Finance or senior finance executive
- Thorough understanding of GAAP, corporate finance, and budgetary control
- Experience managing accounting teams and overseeing Controllers
- Proficiency with financial software and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Paycom)
- Strong analytical, strategic, and leadership capabilities with hands-on operational proficiency
- Experience in retail, multi-site operations, or high-growth environments preferred
- Background in leading ERP implementations or financial system transformations

Mike has a passion for community service, having served as a board member for the Bear Creek Specialty Utility District (formerly Lavon Water Supply Corporation) from 2007-2013; Community Independent School District board trustee from 2013-2017; and currently serves as Lavon City Councilman, Place 2 since 2017.
