Certified Pharmacy Technician Role:
The Certified Pharmacy Technician will play a crucial role in supporting the practice of pharmacy under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This individual will be responsible for various tasks related to prescription processing, inventory management, customer service, and maintaining compliance with state, federal, and company policies. The role involves assisting in prescription dispensing, addressing customer inquiries, handling cash transactions, and collaborating with healthcare professionals.
Work closely with a pharmacist to ensure efficient and accurate prescription processing, adhering to local, state, federal, and company regulations.
Assist in the preparation and dispensing of pharmaceuticals, ensuring the correct medication, dosage, and labeling.
Collaborate with healthcare providers, pharmacy staff, and insurance carriers to obtain necessary information for prescription processing and payment.
Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, inventory, and sales, ensuring compliance with documentation requirements.
Process insurance claims and provide detailed prescription receipts to customers, resolving any issues related to prescription inquiries.
Implement inventory control procedures, including ordering merchandise and monitoring stock levels within regulatory guidelines.
Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with prescription-related questions and concerns, promoting a positive pharmacy experience.
Register all sales on the assigned cash register, handle cash transactions accurately, and maintain accountability for financial transactions.
Collaborate with prescribers and their agents to obtain refill authorizations, ensuring timely medication availability for patients.
Troubleshoot third-party insurance claims questions, addressing online rejections and understanding plan parameters.
Adhere to established procedures for quality assurance, cost containment, security of controlled substances, and proper disposal of drugs and hazardous waste.
Certified Pharmacy Technician Background Profile:
Current certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy or provisional certification.
Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service and address customer inquiries with professionalism and courtesy.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Successful completion of a criminal background check.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in prescription processing and documentation.
Effective communication skills for interacting with healthcare professionals, customers, and insurance carriers.
Proficient computer skills for processing prescription orders and navigating relevant software systems.
Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team, following directions and protocols under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Familiarity with prescription terminology, drug names, and pharmaceutical calculations.
