Our client in Austin, TX has an immediate opening for a Category Manager on a direct hire basis.

Category Manager Role:

The Category Manager plays a pivotal role in orchestrating the success of assigned products within their assigned category. Utilizing in-depth knowledge and strategic prowess, they meticulously plan, develop, and execute pricing, merchandising, and promotional strategies to make the products appealing, accessible, and profitable. Their expertise drives overall category growth, enhances customer experience, and ensures market competitiveness.
Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the ongoing growth and development of the assigned product category. In-depth understanding of the category will drive decisions related to pricing, shelving, marketing, and promotions, aimed at maximizing customer engagement and satisfaction.
Create and nurture a long-term plan and strategy to guide the evolution of the category, staying ahead of market trends and customer demands.
Continuously monitor and analyze changes in the product mix and retail prices within the market to ensure competitive positioning.
Identify market needs and gaps, craft strategies to capture new growth opportunities that align with our business objectives.
Collaborate seamlessly with stores, vendors, and internal departments to facilitate smooth processes, particularly in terms of product authorization, pricing, cost management, and retail maintenance.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date Plan-o-Grams, managing changes, additions, and deletions across stores and vendors.
Develop and foster key relationships with suppliers to drive strategic category management initiatives.
Take accountability for managing retail pricing, product ordering, and in-store product organization, ensuring an optimal shopping experience for customers.
Lead the way in category ranging, pricing, and promotions across various customer channels, establishing yourself as a category expert.
Recommend market-relevant pricing strategies that bolster category sales and profits, considering customer demand and market dynamics.
Contribute to the category's profitability by increasing product sales volume and enhancing inventory turnover speed.
Leverage your deep knowledge of the products, consumer needs, buying behaviors, and retail environment specific to your merchandise category.
Demonstrate strong judgment skills in analyzing and addressing challenging issues raised by customers, co-workers, and employees.
Plan and manage multiple projects while consistently meeting deadlines and maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

Category Manager Background Profile:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combinations of experience and education.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Proficiency in MS Office and Excel is essential.
Experience with Data Visualization products like Tableau or MicroStrategy is a plus.
Ability to interpret and utilize data, reports, and analysis to drive actionable strategies.
Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with business partners, stores, and internal departments.
Exceptional judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Proven project management skills and the capability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Strong follow-up skills and attention to detail.
