Associate General Counsel Role:
- Provide comprehensive legal services to various departments including senior administrators, faculty, and staff.
- Handle a wide range of legal inquiries across different departments.
- Collaborate with administrators and faculty to draft, review, and revise agreements such as purchase agreements, license agreements, and more.
- Represent the institution's stance on legal matters before enforcement agencies.
- Ensure timely responses to public records requests and compliance with relevant laws.
- Support initiatives for an inclusive environment fostering participation and respect.
- Assist in creating, revising, and upholding institutional policies and procedures to comply with laws and regulations.
- Represent the Office of General Counsel in administrative proceedings and investigations.
- Stay updated on legal and regulatory changes at various levels.
- Offer legal advice on higher education and organizational legal issues.
- Conduct legal research, prepare memoranda, and oversee correspondence and reports.
Associate General Counsel Background Profile:
- Graduation from an ABA-accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree.
- License to practice law in the State of Texas.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a licensed attorney in areas including contracts, employment law, constitutional law, and litigation.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, local, and county laws.
- Familiarity with organizational policies, procedures, and compliance practices.
- Proficiency in web-based research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Capable of providing sound legal advice and services independently.
- Demonstrated integrity, discretion, and judgment in handling confidential matters.
