Accounting & Tax Manager Role:
The Accounting & Tax Manager serves as the primary relationship manager and strategic advisor for a dedicated portfolio of small business clients. The Accounting & Tax Manager will oversee monthly accounting operations, tax planning initiatives, tax preparation services, and client advisory engagements while ensuring exceptional service delivery and team performance.
Manage the complete client lifecycle for an assigned book of business
Serve as the primary point of contact for accounting, tax, and advisory services
Lead strategic tax planning engagements and identify opportunities to optimize tax outcomes
Prepare and review complex business tax returns including Forms 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and 990
Prepare and review individual tax returns (1040)
Conduct detailed monthly financial statement reviews and analysis
Review balance sheets, reconciliations, fixed assets, payroll liabilities, and loan schedules
Analyze profit and loss statements to ensure accuracy and identify financial trends
Deliver summer salary projections and year-round financial guidance to business owners
Recommend entity structure improvements and tax-saving strategies
Oversee bookkeeping team performance and provide coaching and mentorship
Ensure timely completion of accounting deliverables and client deadlines
Collaborate with leadership to improve processes and enhance client service delivery
Resolve client questions and financial challenges with professionalism and expertise
Accounting & Tax Manager Background Profile:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Enrolled Agent designation strongly preferred
5-7+ years of public accounting experience required
Strong experience with monthly accounting and financial statement review
Proven expertise preparing and reviewing business tax returns (1120, 1120-S, 1065, 990)
Experience preparing and reviewing individual tax returns (1040)
Deep understanding of tax planning strategies and entity structure optimization
Knowledge of depreciation methods, Section 179, bonus depreciation, and tax-saving opportunities
Strong project management and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
Exceptional communication and client relationship-building abilities
Experience mentoring and developing accounting or bookkeeping team members
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving growth environment
