Accounting Manager Role:
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing GAAP reporting processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance. Your key duties will include managing audits, state filings, and reporting activities across various insurance and reinsurance segments. You will review and prepare monthly journal entries and financial statements on a regular basis, conduct general ledger account reconciliations, and perform variance analysis to identify and rectify discrepancies. Additionally, you will be tasked with completing quarterly and annual statements, coordinating both GAAP and STAT audits, and ensuring timely submission of all statutory reports. Collaborating with state examiners, external auditors, and senior management will also be part of your role, along with providing support for daily cash management when needed. Staying up-to-date on emerging NAIC accounting standards is crucial, and you will have the opportunity to contribute ideas to enhance internal procedures and operational efficiency.
Accounting Manager Background Profile:
To qualify for this position, you should have at least 7 years of recent experience in a similar role within the financial services industry. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required, along with a strong understanding of GAAP basis reporting. The ideal candidate will be analytical, well-organized, and possess excellent referencing skills for work papers, financial statements, and schedules. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, is expected. Strong communication and research abilities, a collaborative team mindset, and a continuous improvement approach are essential. Experience in managing, supervising, and training accounting team members, as well as effective cross-department coordination skills, are necessary. Knowledge of Model Audit Rule compliance is a plus.
