Key Responsibilities of the Accounting and Risk Manager:
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations and risk management activities
- Execute ad-hoc financial projects and time-sensitive analyses for senior management
- Evaluate risk exposures and maintain appropriate insurance coverage
- Establish and manage a captive insurance program to optimize coverage
- Cultivate relationships with insurance brokers and lenders for favorable terms
- Collaborate with vendors to ensure accurate data for the company's insurance program
- Identify and mitigate operational, financial, and strategic risks
- Implement process enhancements and automation initiatives
- Drive financial and operational initiatives while training team members as needed
Requirements for the Accounting and Risk Manager Role:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior experience in real estate, private equity, or property management
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting systems (Yardi preferred)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Track record of managing risk management and insurance programs
- Ability to deliver structured solutions and adapt to evolving processes
- Excellent relationship-building skills with external partners
