Cost Accountant
Job Description
Our client on the west side of Dallas, Texas metro is hiring a Cost Accountant due to doubling in size over the last year. This Accountant must have construction industry accounting, enjoy working for a smaller organization, and be open to an in-office position. This is a direct hire opportunity.ÂÂ
Cost Accountant Role:
Project Cost Tracking
Maintain and update job cost records in the accounting system.
Review and verify cost entries for accuracy and proper coding.
Assist in preparing cost reports for project managers and leadership.
Billing & Accounts Receivable Support
Assist with preparing and submitting customer invoices according to contract requirements.
Help monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments.
Subcontractor & Vendor Payment Processing
Process subcontractor and vendor invoices, ensuring compliance with agreements.
Collect and track compliance documents, including insurance certificates and lien waivers.
Reporting & Reconciliation
Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and revenue recognition updates.
Perform monthly reconciliations of assigned accounts.
Support month-end and year-end close activities.
Process & System Support
Assist in implementing process improvements to increase efficiency.
Support ERP system updates and data accuracy efforts.
Cost Accountant Background Profile:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.
2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based industries.
Basic understanding of job cost accounting principles.
Familiarity with billing, accounts payable, and WIP reporting.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (CMiC experience a plus).
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
