Non-Profit Accountant
A mission-driven nonprofit organization in Austin, TX seeks a full-time Accountant with experience in grant-based accounting, including federal and state funding. This is an in person direct hire opportunity.

Accountant Role:
This role owns core accounting operations and ensures accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness across multiple funding sources.
The Accountant works closely with senior leadership and serves as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
Manage accounts payable and receivable
Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
Allocate revenue and expenses across restricted and unrestricted funds
Prepare budget reports by funding source
Monitor cash flow and submit draw requests to funding sources
Reconcile grant awards and balances with internal records
Support annual budget planning and development
Manage payroll, including year-end W-2 and 1099 issuance
Oversee benefits-related payroll deductions through ADP
Prepare year-end financial statements and audit work papers
Lead audit process and respond to auditor requests
Provide required schedules and data for Form 990 preparation
Record investment activity, including gains and losses, in the general ledger
Maintain accrual-based accounting practices
Ensure compliance with federal grant requirements (2 CFR Part 200)
Provide limited administrative support during peak periods
Accountant Background
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
3–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit environment
Experience with grant accounting and fund allocation
Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit processes
Experience with full-cycle accounting and year-end close
Experience with audit preparation and auditor support
Experience with payroll processing, including W-2 and 1099 reporting
Familiarity with accounting systems such as: QuickBooks (Desktop or Online), Microsoft Office Suite, and ADP or similar payroll platform preferred
Ability to analyze financial data and manage multiple funding sources
