Job Description
Our multi-state client is adding a Project Accountant to their Atlanta office. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 recent years of AEC industry experience as a Project Accountant to be considered. This is a direct hire, fully onsite opportunity.

Project Accountant Role:
As a full-time Project Accountant reporting to the Accounting Manager you will play a critical role in supporting high-volume, multi-project financial oversight within the AEC (Architecture, Engineering & Construction) industry.
This is a project-focused accounting role within an engineering consulting environment, supporting over 1,500 active projects and approximately 500 invoices per month across the team.
Collaborate with Project Managers to oversee and manage financial aspects of projects, including revenue recognition (limited), billing, invoicing, and financial reporting.
Support Project Coordinators/Managers with project setup and ensure accuracy of project data.
Configure and maintain projects within Acumatica ERP.
Perform project analysis, budget tracking, and financial updates.
Conduct project cleanup and closeout activities.
Review and manage change orders and project modifications.
Analyze time allocations and perform time reallocations within ERP.
Support billing processes and assist with invoice-related client communication.
Manage multiple project priorities daily in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Maintain strong internal communication with PMs and accounting team members.
Perform financial analysis to support proposal pricing and business decisions.
Project Accountant Background Profile:
Associate’s degree in Business, Administration, or related field.
Minimum 3 years recent AEC industry project accounting experience (Engineering, Architecture, or Construction required). 4+ years preferred.
Direct experience in:
Project setup and review
Project analysis
Change orders
Billing exposure
High-volume project environments
Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formula use, data manipulation).
Strong ERP experience (multiple systems preferred; examples include Oracle, Sage, QuickBooks, Deltek; Acumatica a plus).
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.
Strong verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting with Project Managers and clients as needed.
Adaptability in evolving systems and processes.
