Nurse Manager Role:Â
The Nurse Manager is responsible for the delivery of quality nursing care to patients of the practice.Â
Directs, supervises, and evaluates work activities of nurses
Supervises, advises, counsels, disciplines, and evaluates all licensed nurses while maintaining effective working relationships with all segments of the staff
Source, interview, hire, onboard and train new staff as well as coach and mentor
Establishes work schedules and assignments for staff, according to workload, space, and equipment availability
Coordinates the delivery of patient care provided by the nursing team
Develops instructional materials and conduct in-service and community-based educational programs
Documents delivery of health care and nursing process in accordance with the Practice’s policies and procedures in a timely, accurate, and consistent manner
Inspects facilities and recommends building or equipment modifications to ensure emergency readiness and compliance to access, safety, and sanitation regulations
Educates patients, families, and significant others about diagnosis and the plan of care
Interacts with health center personnel and assists providers to ensure optimal patient care and to obtain optimum patient flow and increased patient satisfaction
Prepares activity reports to inform management of the status and implementation plans of programs, services, and quality initiatives
Acts as a resource within the practice to other staff members regarding patient care
Assist in prescribing medications accurately using the five (5) rights of medication administration, documenting medications according to health center policy and procedures
Participates in Compliance and Performance Improvement activities for continuous quality improvement and risk management purposes
Accepts responsibility for remaining current with nursing and health care trends and information that impact nursing practice
Participates in collaboration with the health care team in identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing patient and family needs to develop a plan of care
Participates in the evaluation of health care at the Center and in monitoring health outcomes of patients
Is responsible for appropriate infection control and employee health programs to include training staff and monitoring compliance
Review medical records and nursing documentation audits and implements system changes for the nursing staff as necessary to ensure accurate documentation isÂ
Performs other tasks as required by management
May require some local travel between different locations
Nurse Manager Background Profile:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Registered Nurse licensure for the State of Texas
Minimum of 2-5 yrs. experience as a Registered Nurse
Advanced principles of health promotion, prevention, and motivation
Demonstrates proven decision-making skills.
Medical terminology and appropriate abbreviations
Must be highly proficient working on a compute and in various software’s with the ability to learn new systems quickly
Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language
Ability to handle stressful situations with patients as they arise in a calm and courteous mannerÂ
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all segments of the staff
