Great opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in Dallas, TX on a direct hire basis.
An industrial recycling company with locations across the United States, committed to improving the environment.
Payroll Specialist Role:
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for end to end, full cycle payroll processing as they join other payroll specialists on the accounting team.
The Payroll Specialist will be managing the payroll process, but not managing direct reports.
Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with the team and management, co-workers, and outside agencies
Responsible for processing payroll for employees across multi-state locations
Timely distribution and reviewing accurate calculation of payroll checks, taxes and other withholdings
Accurate and timely processing of weekly hourly and semi-monthly salary payroll
Prepare payroll checks and pay statements for distribution
Responsible for data entry of salary non-exempt timecards and plant bonuses
Prepare necessary payroll funding entries
Entry, funding, and release of garnishments
Create and post invoices for payment
File and archive all payroll-related documentation in an organized manner
Process all data provided by HR department including new hires, terminations and other employee changes, salary adjustments, special payments, tax allocations, employee deductions, and garnishments
Cross train and learn other areas in order to strong support the department in the absence of others
Special projects as needed
Payroll Specialist Background Profile:
The Payroll Specialist will have a High School diploma or equivalent
Associates degree preferred
FPC or CPP Certified is a PLUS
3+ years’ experience processing weekly multi-state payroll for 500+ employees themselves
Experience with full cycle, end to end payroll processing REQUIRED
SAP experience is a plus, but not required. Experience with another ERP payroll system such as ADP, Ceridian, UltiPro Enterprise-level system also considered
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, V-Lookups, Formulas, etc)
Solid understanding of payroll deductions – garnishments, child support deductions, 401K, etc.
Solid understanding of payroll tax laws
Union payroll experience is desired
Knowledge of timekeeping systems/practices
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
The ideal candidate will have great time management skills, a strong sense of urgency, be detail oriented and a multi-tasker.
Desire to work in a fast paced environment and flexibility to embrace change
Ability to work well in a team environment
Strong problem solving skills and able to work through ambiguity
