Staff Accountant
Our client located in Dallas, TX has an immediate opening for a Staff Accountant on a Direct Hire basis.

Staff Accountant Role: 
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Staff Accountant plays a crucial role within the Business Office. This position is instrumental in maintaining the accuracy of financial records, reconciling accounts on a weekly and monthly basis, and managing various financial tasks, such as recording revenue, expenses, and grant-related activities. 
Act as an integral part of the month-end close and reporting processes.
Maintain the general ledger in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Perform weekly and monthly reconciliations of all bank accounts.
Conduct monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
Collaborate with the Development team to track donations and grants, documenting any restrictions.
Monitor spending on restricted donations and provide grant managers with spending vs. budget analysis.
Understand and manage budgets for state, federal, and private grants.
Record semi-monthly, student, and monthly payroll, ensuring accurate departmental allocations.
Provide support to accounts payable for account and department coding inquiries.
Assist the CFO with the month-end close and reporting process.
Collaborate with the CFO on budget preparation and forecasting.
Assist the CFO in preparing board meeting reports and other ad hoc reporting.
Handle daily business office transactions, including receiving cash and check payments from students, and accurately recording each transaction in the General Ledger.
Document processes and procedures in the business office's manual relevant to the position.
Create reports from data and edit information to ensure accuracy.
Maintain a professional demeanor on and off-campus.
Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Deliver excellent customer service to staff, students, parents, clients, and the community.
Actively participate in significant campus activities and committees, including homecoming and commencement.
Perform any other duties as assigned.

Staff Accountant Background Profile: 
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in accounting.
A minimum of 4 years of experience in a financial department within an organization (experience in higher education, non-profits, and federal grants is preferred).
Proficiency in handling large volumes of data and a sound understanding of how to handle and protect Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
Strong skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
Previous experience with a Student Information System (SIS) is a plus.
Experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
