Property Accountant
Our growing client in Dallas, Texas has an immediate need for a Senior Property Accountant on a direct hire basis.Â
Company Profile:
The firm owns and operates student housing communities located in the country's top university markets.Â
Property Accountant Role:
The Property Accountant will perform full-cycle accounting, including full accounts payable processing, journal entries, monthly accruals/amortizations, and balance sheet reconciliations.Â
Responsible for multiple student housing properties within Company portfolio.
Respond to Property Managers’ questions regarding monthly charges, invoice coding, and month-end reporting.
Assist with preparation of annual budget.
Review monthly charges, Gross Potential Rent report, and other AR balances.
Calculate monthly property management fees and process payments.
Prepare month-end reporting packages and review and analyze budget-to-actual variances.
Prepare annual work papers and reconciliations for year-end tax returns and external audit.
Assist Controller with cash flow analyses.
Identify areas for process improvement and help increase efficiencies.
Help staff with harder accounting transactions as needed.
Property Accountant Background Profile:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
3-4 years of prior Real Estate property-level accrual basis accounting
Student housing or multifamily property accounting preferred (but not required)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Experience with Entrata, MRI, and/or Yardi software preferred (not required)
Candidate needs to be coachable, enthusiastic, display strong technical aptitude, detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
