Meat Market Manager:
The Meat Market Manager ensures that fresh and prepackaged market cases are maintained full and fresh while playing a pivotal role in shaping the daily operations of the store. Works closely with market personnel on daily operations, promotes customer service and is responsible for the innovation and implementation of new ideas.
Work alongside staff to set a positive example, promote a supportive environment, and maintain close interaction with employees and customers.
Regularly tour the sales floor, engage with colleagues and customers, and address urgent issues promptly.
Supervise the buying, transportation, receiving, unloading, storage, and rotation of meat products to ensure optimal freshness and quality.
Evaluate products to ensure they consistently meet high company standards.
Drive sales and profitability through strategic buying, effective merchandising, inventory management, exceptional customer service, and strong salesmanship.
Monitor and manage department expenses, shrink, and waste.
Strong meat cutting skills and product knowledge.
Use hand tools efficiently with above-average knife skills.
Utilizing daily sales data to reduce shrink by proper production output.
Use detailed reports on sales, profits, and trends to make purchasing decisions.
Train and develop department employees.
Adhere to all state, local and company policies and regulations on health and safety.
Work with leadership to execute and promote company directives and promotions/campaigns.
Meat Market Manager Background Profile:
High school Diploma or GED and five or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
Food Safety Management certification required.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Prior retail and sales experience.
Basic computer, math, and data entry skills.
Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Mike has a passion for community service, having served as a board member for the Bear Creek Specialty Utility District (formerly Lavon Water Supply Corporation) from 2007-2013; Community Independent School District board trustee from 2013-2017; and currently serves as Lavon City Councilman, Place 2 since 2017.
